Fiber optic factory…an Egyptian leap in the world of electronics manufacturing
The first phase of the fiber optic cable production plant was inaugurated to meet local demand and export abroad in Egyptian-Chinese cooperation, in Badr City "High Technofl Optic", with joint Egyptian-Chinese investments amounting to about $30 million over 3 years between the Egyptian company High Technofl and the Chinese company Hengtong Group.
The new plant is built on an area of 27 thousand square meters with a production capacity of more than 8 thousand kilometers annually. The company aims to cover the needs of the Egyptian market for fiber cables, and plans to export to African markets in mid-2019 in conjunction with the increase in the factory's production capacity. The company's strategy also aims for the local component to contribute 80% to the manufacture of cables by 2021, and to use Egyptian technical cadres trained in the manufacture of fiber optic cables locally in partnership with the Chinese company to cover localdemand and export abroad, as well as create a new generation of technical workers trained in the manufacture of fiber optic cables and communications technology.
These cables are the first stages of implementing smart cities that operate through an advanced technological infrastructure based on fiber optic cables, which provide high speeds in transferring data and digital information, reaching from 100 to 200 megabits per second, depending on the strength of the technological infrastructure. Fourth-generation technologies also rely heavily on them, as well as fifth-generation technologies, which will be launched globally in 2020, in addition to achieving higher levels of securing digital data, by converting them into light pulses without passing any electrical signals, which has revolutionized the world of communications, unlike other copper cables and wires that rely on electrical oscillations to transmit data.
